Lisbon

6 to 9 March 2014

Before arriving into Lisbon someone said to me, Lisbon is a quieter version of Madrid with its similiar architecture, food and people, yet on something of a smaller scale; at a slower pace. For me, Lisbon has it's own pace and yes, the people of this beautiful city do run at their own pace in their own time, yet this appraoch to life is not uncommon to many places and there is something quaint and almost old fashioned with this approach to life.

It would seem something from a bygone era, a positive approach to life itself. Savouring each moment in life and stopping to smell the roses, feel the sunshine of your back and appreciate life itself, for, as we know it is too short. I am going to be bold enough and say they celebrate life everyday.

Scratch the surface of this ancient city and there is much to learn about Lisbon, to understand its past is to appreciate it future. I know that is an old quote and not my own intelligent ramblings, yet it applies to Lisbon and it's culture.

Lisbon's architecture comes from a

Olissippo Saldanha Hotel

We found this hotel via Expedia. We were thrilled with this hotel and location. We stayed central about 20 minutes from the centre. The hotel was lovely and the staff team very helpful and welcoming.

The room was spacious and there was enough space in the enclosed closet. the bathroom was a good size too! the only thing wrong was there was no extractor fan in this room
However we cannot complain as it was perfect. We did not have breakfast there but chose a local cafe around the corner that did a super cheese and ham toast. Plus the subway is only 3 mins from the hotel too.

Basically a fabulous hotel and a great city. And the weather was great too!!

Lisbon At Night

This ancient city at night shines with brilliance through its clever lighting design, it's evident by the way the city is illuminated. I doubt the beauty of this city comes through via a haphazard design.

Many restaurants buzz with locals and tourists and the many different cuisines cater to everyone's tastes. It seems to be a common thread throughout older cities, it's just my impression, music fills the streets with life, breathing excitement and beauty into the cold stoned streets.

Museum of Modern Art

Lisbon is recognised as a global city because of its importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts, international trade, education and tourism.  We visited the Museum of Modern Art in the city centre. Here we
